The Humane Society has the largest selection of adoptable pets in Washington State. Each year, more than 7,000 homeless dogs and cats are matched with loving families through our shelter.

Adopt a Shelter Dog
On average, there are about 50 dogs available for adoption each day. Shelter dogs are mostly mixed breeds, but about 20% are purebreds. The typical dog is 40 pounds or more. Currently, about 25% are small breeds.

Adopt a Shelter Cat
On average, there are about 35 cats available for adoption each day. Shelter cats are usually mixed domestic breeds, but occasionally purebred Persians, Siamese and Maine Coons are available.

Adopt a Rabbit or Small Mammal
Each year, the Humane Society finds home for more than 200 Rabbits, Guinea Pigs, Hamsters and other small mammals and birds. There are typically six or seven rabbits and other small pets available for adoption in “Smam-A-Lot,” our Small Mammal room.
